Who is your group of influence?
Who is your group?
Who are the people you influence?
Where is your expertise?
Stick to that.
If you are an expert at English, that does not mean you are also an expert on something else like cooking, even if you occasionally do cook. Stick to explaining the English language, or whatever part you really know something about.
If you know astro-physics, that does not mean you get to speak about world economy as an expert, even though you have a bank account. You are an amateur at that.
Just because you are a famous actor, why do you think that gives you a platform to speak about politics?
Stick to your area of expertise.
Of course, we are all allowed our opinions. But too often we go beyond where we should. We exalt ourselves to a role we were never given.
If your group of influence is a class of toddlers, be satisfied with that.
If it is a group of 70 year olds, then speak to them. And don't assume the high schoolers should hear your opinion, too.
This is something that in America we have done way too much. We give platforms for people to speak about things that they really just don't know much about. People ARE entitled to their opinions, but it's sad when someone who is good at acting gets to tell everyone his or her opinion about every political issue under the sun BECAUSE they are good at acting. Since networks won't turn them off, I suggest we do. Turn your tv off when people are given a platform way outside their area of expertise. Oh, I know. This stuff sells. But it shouldn't.
